New processing equipment delivers high performance and efficiency
SEPARATORS WITH MAINTENANCE ENHANCEMENTS
Eriez’s RevX-E separator line combines the same high-performance separation of previous models with a variety of maintenance-friendly enhancements, including an innovative cantilever frame design that enables 10-minute belt changes. The RevX-E Eddy current separators offer a direct drive for both the rotor and conveyor. Larger side panels allow complete open access to the ECS conveyor for easier maintenance. The hood with adjustable splitter gives customers the ability to switch back and forth between the fines adjustment for processing small particles, as well as the rack and pinion adjustment for coarse materials.
HEAT TRANSFER, HOMOGENIZATION SOLUTIONS
Through its APV brand, SPX Flow has extensive experience in manufacturing high-efficiency sanitary solutions for the dairy industry. Plate heat exchangers are designed to reduce energy consumption and increase runtimes by offering thermal efficiency with less fouling. Units have easy access to reduce maintenance time and cost. They are available with a range of high-efficiency plate designs, including thin plates that increase heat transfer area without compromising mechanical strength. Rannie and Gaulin homogenizers use innovative valve designs that reduce the time and energy required to reach the desired particle size and distribution, the company said.
SEPARATOR FOR CHEESE MILK PRE-TREATMENT AND MORE
The Tetra Pak Bactofuge delivers high-spore and bacteria removal from milk. It is available in both one-phase and two-phase configurations for the dairy industry. Primary applications of the Bactofuge are cheese milk pretreatment, promoting longer shelf life of pasteurized milk, as well as the production of high-quality cream and high-quality milk powder. The Bactofuge features highly efficient separation, less energy usage than a semi-open design, low-water consumption, low product losses due to accurate discharges controlled by an operating water module, and a low noise level, the company said.
UNIVERSAL CHEESE PROCESSING EQUIPMENT
The multifunctional Process Automats from Karl Schnell are universal machines that can handle difficult cutting, mixing and emulsification processes for a wide range of cheese products. The modular systems with high-performance components guarantee flexibility and product safety, the company said. Machines handling standard batch sizes from 30 to 1,400 liters are available. The high degree of automation ensures consistent product quality and allows the quick implementation of customer requirements. The integrated direct and/or indirect heating system provides safe pasteurizing and prolonging shelf life.
DIVERSE HOMOGENIZER OPTIONS
Bertoli Homogenizers, a brand of Interpump Group, manufactures homogenizers, high-pressure piston pumps, aseptic homogenizers, lab homogenizers and specialty pumps (for any fluids containing particles such as yogurt with fruit pieces) for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
HOMOGENIZER WITH WIDE CAPACITY
GEA said its Ariete homogenizer 5400 offers the widest capacity ever achieved (80,000 liters per hour at 120 bar, or approximately 1,750 psi). It also has the highest pressure for industrial production (up to 1,500 bar, or approximately 21,750 psi), the company said. It is ideal for dairy and beverage applications.
DIRECT STEAM INJECTION FOR HTST PROCESSING
Pick Heaters’ 3-A-authorized steam injection SC heaters use culinary steam to quickly heat dairy products to the desired temperature. Steam injection blends the product stream with the higher-pressure steam using a multiple-orifice injector. Because the steam has intimate contact with the product, this method maximizes heat transfer with the shortest hold time and least protein denaturing. The compact Pick SC heater is also gentle and non-shearing to products without harmful vibration and noise. The company said high-temperature/short-time processing (HTST) with a Pick SC heater helps maintain product color and provides better flavor. It can also speed up the manufacturing of products such as processed cheeses and soft natural cheeses.
ASEPTIC PROCESS SOLUTIONS
MicroThermics Inc. offers small-scale, ultra-high temperature and high-temperature/short time aseptic process and filling solutions. Its steam injection, indirect and microwave processors are built to order with customized hold tubes, in-line homogenizers and aseptic laboratory fillers. Additionally, the company said its aseptic laboratory fillers enable processors to fill products into consumer-style plastic bottles on a continuous basis.
PNEUMATIC CONVEYING SYSTEM WITH SITE GLASS
Powder Process-Solutions’ low-velocity dense-phase conveying system features an automatic air column and pressure control to prevent convey line buildup. Site glass provides confirmation of material flow with a quick glance. This type of conveying system is ideal for processors of fragile powders that demand low breakdown, uniformity of blended powders and optimum performance. Dense-phase design allows processors to convey material from multiple sources and to multiple destinations.
SMALL FLOW SEPARATORS FOR ARTISAN CHEESE PRODUCERS
Through its Seital Separation brand, SPX Flow offers a wide range of hygienic vertical disk centrifuge separators, ideal for cheese whey, fresh warm milk and fresh cold milk separation processes. Units can handle flows as small as 1,200 liters per hour (2,650 pounds per hour). This makes them ideal for small- to medium-sized dairies and artisan cheese producers. Available with solid-retaining or self-cleaning bowls, the separators are skid-mounted for easy installation and designed for reliable, low-noise operation and straightforward maintenance.
