LIQUID RING VACUUM PUMPS

Busch Vacuum Pumps and Systems launched the Dolphin LM/LT series of liquid ring vacuum pumps. The redesigned pumps are single-stage vacuum pumps for the rough vacuum range from atmospheric pressure to 100 Torr ultimate pressure. They are also available in two-stage versions and cover the vacuum range from atmospheric pressure to 25 Torr. Thirteen sizes are available. Featuring a modular design and integrated flow channels, the pumps are extremely compact. The optional motor pedestal eliminates the need for base frames, since the NEMA premium-efficiency motor is directly flange-mounted. The new seal concept with mechanical shaft seals, made of FKM or FFKM, depending on the pumping medium, ensures a long life cycle. The pumps are said to be ideal for processing foodstuffs, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, oil and plastics.

USDA-APPROVED MULTI-SPECTRUM METAL DETECTOR

The CEIA THS/MS21 metal detector from Heat and Control Inc. is now available with optional USDA-certified construction, compliant with the USDA’s stringent hygiene and sanitation guidelines for the design and fabrication of dairy, meat and poultry equipment. This design eliminates any difficult-to-clean areas that could harbor bacteria. Designed for the most difficult products with strong product effect, the multi-spectrum metal detector uses multiple detection frequencies simultaneously to deliver the greatest sensitivity to all magnetic and nonmagnetic metals and accurately compensate for product effect to reduce waste and false reject signals without reducing sensitivity.

MIXER WITH IMPROVED LIFT AND SEAL DESIGNS

Charlies Ross & Son Co. unveiled improvements to the dual-post hydraulic lift and seal design of its 1,500-gallon Model PVM-1500 multi-shaft mixer. The new lifting design is a double-acting, fully hydraulic cylinder operating at a much higher pressure, allowing for a smaller cylinder and significantly less oil for operation. The lifting system operates at a lower cost, requires less maintenance and provides faster lifting speed when the agitators are raised and lowered. In addition, the new seal arrangement allows seal replacement without removing the agitator shafts. Unlike the historical design, seal replacement no longer requires removal of the mixer from the tank nor tank entry to access the seal.

SANITARY CONVEYORS WITH ALLERGEN KIT

Dynamic Conveyor Corp. now offers an allergen kit to accompany its DynaClean sanitary conveyors. The kit is designed to prevent product cross-contamination following product changeovers. Ideal for processors that convey products containing common allergens such as milk, eggs, nuts, soy, wheat, fish and shellfish, the allergen kit allows the swap-out of conveyor components that are in the product stream and eliminates the potential for cross-contamination. For easy identification, the allergen kit includes a white conveyor belt (instead of the standard blue), removable retaining walls and optional clear covers branded with an allergen identifier of choice. By using an allergen kit, processors eliminate the need for an extra conveyor to convey only specific products.
