Another major ice cream brand has entered the gelato category. This month Unilever's Breyers brand is rolling out four flavors under the name Breyers Gelato Indulgences. To show off the gelato, sauce and toppings, Breyers packages the product in a clear 28.5-ounce tub.

The four flavors are:

  1. Vanilla Caramel (vanilla gelato, caramel sauce and caramel curls)
  2. Raspberry Cheesecake (cheesecake gelato with raspberry sauce and graham crumble)
  3. Tiramisu (mascarpone gelato with espresso sauce, ladyfinger cookie pieces and cocoa)
  4. Triple Chocolate (milk and dark chocolate gelato with white chocolate sauce and chocolate curls)

An 80-gram serving (2.8 ounces) of Vanilla Caramel contains 170 calories and 7 grams of fat, according to the nutrition label.

The product is in select stores this month. A spokeswoman for the company said Breyers "will be at full distribution in late February/early-March." The suggested price is $4.49 to $5.99.

Dairy Foods saw the product in a Jewel-Osco store in the Chicago area. Hannaford stores in New England also carry the item, according to the retailer's website.

Last year, Nestle's Haagen-Dazs came out with a line of gelato.
