    CLEAN LABEL COLOR SOLUTIONS

California Natural Color offers a full rainbow of natural color solutions, including its

innovative, sustainable crystal color portfolio, which the company says is ideal for a range of consumer-favorite applications including functional beverages, ready-to-mix powders, mocktails and more. The company’s natural color solutions make it possible to create bright, eye-catching applications with a clean and transparent label. Beyond consumer appeal, proprietary crystal color technology from the company delivers manufacturing benefits that make it an ideal alternative to traditional coloring methods. The solutions are completely water soluble, produce less dust in handling, and have up to a five-year shelf life with a high color intensity that doesn’t require refrigeration, the company states.

    DAIRY ICE CREAM COLORS

Flavorchem offers an array of natural botanicals as well as a versatile portfolio of synthetic color solutions to meet economic and regulatory requirements. Color influences consumer perception, making it a crucial aspect of dairy product development, the company claims. While flavor is always top of mind, it never underestimates the importance of visual appeal. With Red Dye #3 banned, Flavorchem’s natural color solutions help brands transition to natural alternatives for an array of dairy products like ice cream, yogurt and cheese spreads. Whether brands seek vibrant, eye-catching colors or subtle, natural hues, the company says it can help create dairy products that stand out on the shelf.

VIVID ORANGE FOR DAIRY AND CHEESE APPLICATIONS

Exberry Shade Vivid Orange from GNT USA is a vibrant, plant-based color made from non-GMO paprika, offering a clean-label alternative to traditional paprika oleoresins. It delivers exceptional color performance across dairy applications, from cheese powder seasonings and yogurts to cheese products and ice creams, enhancing visual appeal without impacting flavor or texture. Processed without chemical solvents, it meets consumer demand for transparency and authenticity, the company says. Available in both water-dispersible and oil-soluble formats, Shade Vivid Orange provides bright, stable color with expert support from the company.

RICH BROWN HUES FROM COOKED ONION JUICE

Gourmet Ingredients Plant Color Golden Brown is a premium, dark brown liquid derived from carefully cooked onion juice. This organic, food-grade ingredient from Nelson-Jameson offers a clean-label alternative to caramel coloring, delivering rich, appealing brown hues to a variety of food and beverage products. Ideal for manufacturers seeking natural food colors and clean-label ingredients, the cooked onion juice concentrate enhances the visual appeal of everything from sauces and soups to baked goods, the company says. The premium Dutch Onion Extract is a 100% flavoring preparation crafted from select Dutch onions in compliance with the latest European Union food legislation.

    NATURAL COLORS FOR SENSORY APPEAL

Mother Nature supplies the raw materials, and Sense Colours adds more than 150 years of coloring expertise. This partnership offers a complete range of natural colors, caramel colors, burnt sugars, and fruit and vegetable-based browns. The company says its wide range of natural colors, scientific expertise, and co-creation capabilities will help customers transform the sensory appeal of their products. Whether creating a delicious ice cream, smooth gelato or other frozen novelty, the company has a natural color to match the inspiration.

COLOR USED AS RED 3 REPLACEMENT IN DAIRY

Sensient's Watermelon-Rose is a unique pink hue with strong heat stability in a variety of dairy applications, making it an ideal clean-label option to replace FD&C Red 3 in products like strawberry milk, the company says. This improved stability withstands the pH and intense pasteurization processing of dairy. Anthocyanin-based colors, commonly used for pink and red hues in beverages, are pH dependent and show decreased stability in systems where the pH is above 4.0. Beet is sensitive to heat and color fading. Watermelon-Rose is both pH-stable across pH 2.5-7.0 as well as heat stable and is successfully used in Ultra High Temperature dairy-based applications.
