Friday, July 16 is the registration date for the 2021 World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest. All companies entering products in this contest must send their entry forms to the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association (WDPA) by mail (8383 Greenway Blvd, Suite 130, Middleton, WI 53562), by fax (608-836-3334) or by email (info@wdpa.net) by this date, WDPA, the contest’s organizer, said.

The last contest received more than 1,500 entries from companies in North America and Europe. This year’s contest promises to be even bigger with 93 product classes. The World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest is the fastest-growing contest in the history of all dairy product contests, WDPA said.

A company may submit as many entries as it wishes. Once a company has submitted its entry forms and fees, it must ship its contest entries (products) during the week of Aug. 9-13, 2021.

All cheese, butter, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, sour cream based-dips, buttermilk, whipping cream and fluid milk entries will be shipped to the Midwest Refrigerated Services in McFarland, Wis., while ice cream, sherbet, dried whey products and creative/innovative technology entries will be shipped to Madison College, WDPA said.

Judging will take place on the following dates:

  • Aug. 17: cheese and butter.
  • Aug. 18: yogurt, cottage cheese, sour cream, fluid milk, buttermilk, sour cream-based dips and whipping cream.
  • Aug. 19: ice cream, sherbet, whey products and creative/innovative technologies.

After judging is concluded, all winners will be notified. The winning entries will then be auctioned off on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis. A portion of the auction proceeds will be used to fund scholarships that will be awarded to students pursuing careers in the dairy industry, WDPA said.

Companies that did not receive an entry form or would like more information should contact WDPA at 608-826-3336 or via email at info@wdpa.net. Complete contest information can be found at www.wdpa.net.
