    Natural sweet flavors

    Edlong Sweet Spot flavors increase the perception of sweetness and improve mouthfeel, according to the company.  Mild, smooth and not overtly dairy, these natural flavors lend a subtle, clean background flavor with lasting sweetness impression to a variety of dairy and nondairy applications, and food and beverage applications. The flavors are ideal for reduced-sugar products. The natural flavors are also kosher pareve and Non-GMO Project-compliant, and are available in both liquid and powder forms.

    Origin-specific tea extracts

    Virginia Dare offers origin-specific tea extracts from teas sourced from Sri Lanka, Argentina and the Assam province of India. Beverage product developers can create the unique taste profile of each of these tea “terroirs.” Natural tea garden variations of sunlight, rainfall, humidity and soil conditions can contribute to and affect the growth, harvest and processing of the leaves, and ultimately the tea’s unique taste, said the company. This tea portfolio brings new flexibility and creativity to developers and brand owners in search of differentiated RTD tea profiles.

    Sweet flavor systems

    Symrise offers a wide range of sweet and novel flavors and flavor systems for dairy and confectionery applications including caramel, coffee and tropical flavor varieties. The caramel flavors are said to capture the nuances of toasted marshmallows, peanut brittle, butterscotch and caramel candies, flans and sticky buns. The company’s new coffee flavors include espresso, cappuccino, latte, caffe crema, Turkish, French press, frappé and macchiato. Symrise also offers a range of solutions in taste modulation for sweetness perception, masking and mouthfeel for dairy and dairy alternatives (soy, almond, coconut) to support formulation needs.

    Vegetarian line of savory ‘meat’ flavors

    Gold Coast Ingredients’ specialty lines of vegetarian chicken, beef and pork flavors are able to duplicate the taste of meat and poultry without the use of animal products. The specialty line of vegetarian-friendly meat flavors can be used in dips, sauces, flavored butters, cheeses, savory ice cream and yogurt. These natural flavors come in powder and liquid form, and can be made organic, non-GMO, gluten-free or MSG-free upon request. The vegetarian chicken flavors are offered in a variety of flavor profiles including grilled, roasted and boiled with white, dark, lean or fatty skin flavor profiles.     Non-GMO tea mix

    Allen Flavors develops many non-GMO flavors and ingredients. The company developed one ready-to-drink non-GMO green tea made with its Green Tea Premix — verified non-GMO by the non-GMO Project.     Unpasteurized premium juice

    Up-Beet Sports Drink is a cold-pressed sports drink that targets health-conscious individuals that work out, want to improve their performance and hydrate. It’s made using Naturex’s new Unpasteurized Premium Juice (UPJ) line. The beverage combines UPJ vegetable juices with ginseng extract and high vitamin C acerola to create an energizing and hydrating sports drink where all carbohydrates and electrolytes are delivered by the juices.     Natural horchata flavor

    Mother Murphy’s natural horchata-type flavor has a creamy rice and almond flavor profile with sweet cinnamon notes, according to the company. This flavor is said to have the authentic taste of the traditional Mexican beverage, and was created to use with soft-serve ice cream. The horchata flavor can also be used in other dairy applications including sweet milk, RTD beverages, yogurt and other frozen desserts.

    Line of cocoa extenders

    In response to higher cocoa prices, David Michael & Co. has created Cocoa-Mate, a line of cocoa extenders that are functionally capable of replacing up to 50% of the cocoa powder used in a finished product. Cocoa Mates are available to replace both Dutched cocoas and natural cocoas. A natural and artificial Cocoa-Mate is also available.

    Natural flavor enhancer

    PLT Health Solutions offers a new technology called PhytoShield Flavor Enhancer which enhances the flavor of foods and beverages. It also provides improved product quality and longer shelf life because of the strong anti-microbial properties it imparts to formulations. The flavor technology was developed by Flavor Solutions Inc., and is featured in a line of ingredients that can be incorporated in a broad range of food and beverage systems.
