Fairlife, the dairy processor known for its Core Power post-workout recovery beverages and high-protein milk, is supplying Greek yogurt to the Atlanta-based restaurant chain Chick-fil-A.

In August, the restauranteur put a Greek Yogurt Parfait on the menu at its 1,900-plus restaurants in 42 states and Washington, D.C. The parfait has half the sugar and twice the protein – seven grams in each serving – of the previous yogurt parfait per ounce and is made from all-natural ingredients with no preservatives, artificial colors or flavors. The 110 calorie-per-serving Greek Yogurt Parfait is served with fresh strawberries and blueberries. It can be topped with nut granola or chocolate cookie crumbles.

“Our customers have been asking us for menu items that are higher in protein and we’re listening,” said David Farmer, vice president of product strategy and development. Chick-fil-A sells it for breakfast and it is available all day as a side item, snack or dessert.

The yogurt is made at Fair Oaks Farms in Indiana, using the company’s patented filtration process, and is only available at Chick-fil-A. The price for a 5-ounce parfait will start at $2.39.

“Our proprietary technique allows us preserve the protein and other nutrients that are packed into our fresh, high-quality milk,” said Anders Porter, director of communications for fairlife. “Better protein-packed milk makes better yogurt. You won’t find anything like this Greek yogurt anywhere else,” he said, adding that chefs from Chick-fil-A’s culinary team worked hand-in-hand with the farm for seven months to perfect the blend of flavors.

The dairy-based item is part of the restaurant chain’s overall move to address the needs and health preferences of its customers. The company also removed trans fats from its entire menu in 2008 and more recently removed high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors from its dressings and sauces. By the end of 2019, Chick-fil-A pledged to serve chicken raised without antibiotics.

Fairlife describes itself as “a health-and-wellness dairy company that produces and markets premium-quality, value-added nutrition products.” Its patented cold filtration filters milk to increase protein and minerals and decrease lactose and sugar. The company owns and operates its own state-of-the-art milk plant in Michigan.
