The international Industria Macchine Automatiche (IMA) in Bologna, Italy, acquired the operating business of Oystar Group. In the United States, Oystar Group’s subsidiaries – including Benhil, Erca, Gasti, Hamba and Hassia – are now under the umbrella of IMA Dairy & Food USA, which continue to be headquartered in Edison, N.J.

Zip-Pak, a supplier of zipper technology, was named Supplier of the Year for 2014 by Tyson Foods Inc. in April.

Krones AG, Neutraubling, Germany, a manufacturer of beverage filling and packaging technology, purchased a 100% stake in the Gernep Group, Barbing, Germany. 

American Casein Co., commonly referred to as AMCO, changed its name to AMCO Proteins.

Marshfield Food Safety opened a new lab for food testing in Springdale, Ark. The lab specializes in providing food process evaluation.

Brookfield released RheocalcT Software v1.2.19. The update includes test wizards for rapid test creation, yield testing for the DV3T Rheometer, improved layout and navigation, and additional import/export functions.

Tate & Lyle announced its exit from the substantial part of its European Bulk Ingredients business, and the re-structuring of its Splenda Sucralose business to further focus on specialty food ingredients.


Cherney Microbiological Services promoted Brian Van de Water to president. Debra Cherney, owner and founder, assumed the role of CEO. The company also added Michael Timmer as sales manager.

Andrew J. Hulse was named vice president of sales and marketing for Accraply, a division of Barry-Wehmiller.

Fowler Products appointed Franck B. Vidal as vice president of sales and marketing.

Roha USA hired Byron Madkins as vice president of global color application and R&D.

Jay Waltz joined CDF Corp. as vice president of sales. CDF is a manufacturer of drum, pail, intermediate bulk container and bag-in-box liners and flexible packaging.

John Sorensen was appointed as senior vice president and general manager for lifecycle support services at Intelligrated. Chuck Adams was named senior vice president and general manager of sales.

Richard Cranston was promoted to managing director at BW Container Systems.
