The cheese industry gathers in Wisconsin for the International Cheese Technology Expo

The International Cheese Technology Expo, Apr. 22 to 24 in Milwaukee, brings cheese manufacturers and suppliers together for seminars, exhibits and a gold medal auction.

The 2014 International Cheese Technology Exposition (ICTE) will bring together cheese manufacturers and suppliers from the United States and around the world.

The ICTE puts the spotlight on full-scale equipment, ingredients and technology through seminars and an exhibit hall, with evening social affairs including the World Championship Cheese Contest. The biennial event is hosted by the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research and Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association. The Expo takes place at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee.

An opening reception welcomes attendees on Tuesday evening, April 22. Saputo CEO Lino Saputo Jr., kicks off Wednesday’s events with an opening address.

Concurrent sessions held throughout the morning cover food safety and processing. A general session honors winners of WCMA’s Distinguished Service Award. The World Championship Cheese Contest on Wednesday night allows attendees to taste the fourth-place finishers from the 2014 World Championship Cheese Contest, while the Champion Cheese Auction gives attendees a chance to bid for the contest’s first place, gold medal cheeses and butters, auctioned to support the non-profit cheese contest.   Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has been invited to give the opening address on Thursday. More concurrent sessions look at whey and dairy ingredients, cheese production technology and other topics.

 Thursday night’s reception and World Championship Cheese Contest awards banquet honors contest winners. Ron Buholzer, president of Klondike Cheese, will receive the Life Member award at the Thursday banquet. Almost 300 exhibitors representing technology and equipment suppliers span the show floor. The exhibit hours at the Wisconsin Center are Wednesday, April 23 from 11:30 to 5:00 and Thursday, April 24 11:30 to 4:00.
