New containers for dairy foods, beverages

    March 10, 2014

    ROCKTENN

RockTenn Corrugated Container presents mandrel case-forming technology that delivers increased strength while using less fiber as compared to RSCs. The unique shape of the Meta 8 corner BiB case reduces flex-cracking in corners because of the design’s higher compression strength. Most commonly used for dairy beverages, this case design is also ideal for any bottled beverage product.

    AIRLITE PLASTICS

Airlite Plastics has launched a line of full-wrap IML square containers called the J Line.  The J1851 containers emphasize how the product design incorporates full-wrap IML labels to maximize graphic area. Each container allows for a film inner seal that enhances shelf life and product freshness. The lids, available in a variety of colors, also incorporate IML graphics. Together, the containers and lids offer space-saving packaging with high-quality graphics and superior shelf appeal. The J line was originally available in 8-ounce, 12-ounce and 16-ounce sizes, but is expanding to include 2-pound and 3-pound containers.

    HUHTAMAKI

Huhtamaki has added folding cartons to its existing broad spectrum of shaped paperboard packaging. Capabilities include a wide range of material substrates, coating options, and specialty in-line folding, gluing and finishing processes. Computer-to-plate high-end litho and flexographic printing allow the company to create custom folding-carton designs for frozen novelty and dairy desserts. These designs incorporate value-added features such as display-ready packaging, easy-opening perforations, windows, freshness seals, zipper-strips and hinged lids.

    PHOENIX PACKAGING

An innovative solution for on-the-go snacking is available from Phoenix Packaging. The company’s 4.6-ounce container and 2-inch dome are made for a Greek Yogurt Dip with Pita Chips. The container features a white thermoformed polypropylene base with a snap-on,
clear crystallized polypropylene injection-molded dome. Both the lid and the base are individually wrapped with a shrink sleeve prior to shipping, which eliminates this extra step at the customer. The cup has an eight-color flexo print with a very vibrant, high-end appearance. More flavors and an additional size are currently under development.

    STANPAC

Stanpac’s latest tamper-evident ice cream packaging products are part of the SecurTEC family and now include 14-ounce, 16-ounce, 500-millileter, 32-ounce and 1-litre round packages as well as 48-ounce, 56-ounce, and 64-ounce non-round sizes. The tamper-evident feature is visible by the consumer at the point-of-purchase. Accidental removal that can occur on packaging lines and in distribution channels is prevented. With a simple snap-on application, no special equipment or additional floor space is required. Bold full-color lithographic printing and high-gloss varnish increase shelf appeal, and the packaging enables producers to improve line efficiencies, optimize package safety and protect their brand.

    MONOFLO INTERNATIONAL

Monoflo International, with its plastic injection-molded material handling products, added to its scope of food containers with the introduction of the 16-quart Dairy Crate. The MC 1313-11 is universally compatible with standard milk crates and industry standard automation, providing seamless system integration, and is priced very competitively.  Manufactured using high-performing engineered high-density polyethylene resins with an ultra-reinforced rib and bottom drag rail design, this dairy crate is designed for a long life.

    DOUBLE H PLASTICS

Double H Plastics has added a 4-quart pail to its family of ice cream pails. With various decorating capabilities, the 4-, 4.5- and 5-quart sizes available, as well as various color choices to further decorate and brand any pail, the company is providing more options to its customers in the dairy industry.

    TETRA PAK

The 1-liter Tetra Evero Aseptic package from Tetra Pak is a safe, shelf-stable carton for milk that combines the benefits of cartons with the convenience of a bottle shape, including easy handling and pouring of a bottle with the portability and environmental benefits of a carton. The carton was designed with a separable top to help facilitate recycling.
