The USDA’s Dairy Market News reports on what retailers are advertising this week, and what they are charging for cream cheese, cheese, yogurt, milk and ice cream.

The advertised price for 8-ounce conventional cheese blocks averaged $2.24, down 8 cents from last week. A package of shredded cheese fell 4 cents to $2.19.

Butter prices dropped 13 cents this week but cream cheese rose 23 cents. Prices of Greek yogurt are little changed in a year.

U.S. retailers are promoting butter, cottage cheese and milk this week, according to USDA's Dairy Market News.

National Dairy Month-themed ads were in abundance this survey period. A number of ads offered dairy products as “2 for the price of 1” specials.

The retail price for a pound of butter is $2.53, a drop of 51 cents from two weeks ago. Shredded cheese, ice cream, regular and Greek yogurt prices rise.

The most advertised cheese category, 8 ounce shredded, has a weighted average advertised price of $2.19, a 6.8% price decrease from last cycle. The average price for 8 ounce blocks, $2.20, is a 5.2% price decrease from the last cycle.
