GABLE-TOP PACKAGING MACHINE

Evergreen Packaging’s EH-84 gable-top packaging machine is designed to meet the needs of the dairy market. The EH-84 handles half-gallon cross-section cartons with fill volumes of 40 ounces up to 2 liters, at speeds up to 8,400 components per hour. Allen-Bradley PLC controls and servo-driven technology automatically control fill volumes and profiles based on product and carton size, and infinite fill capability allows for less downtime, Evergreen Packaging says. Shelf-life optimization features include extended long-life components, including a self-contained clean-in-place/sterilize-in-place system, environmental control features, carton decontamination, and a hermetic fill system to maintain product quality.

GRAVITY LEVEL FILLERS

Federal says it introduced a new generation of gravity level fillers that includes a set of standard features, including an updated base and guarding, stationary clean-in-place (CIP) trough system, and upgraded electronics packages. This new trough style is more user-friendly and time-saving than CIP rings. Additionally, these gravity level fillers provide the ability to "build your own" filler, leaving out or adding certain features and ancillary equipment, to best fit specific filling needs.

SANITARY BOTTLE FILLING AND CAPPING

Sanitary rotary liquid bottle filling and capping systems from Filler Specialties feature a new column and carriage design for improved cleanliness and ease of cleaning and an electric fill bowl and capper raising/lowering system to replace outdated air clutches. A height preset selection is available to speed bottle size changeovers and ease operator setup tasks. The machine features also include gear drive, external mount filling valves, optional extended-shelf-life clean-in-place valves, electronic level control, and updated capping turrets — including pick-and-place cappers for highly efficient capping, the company notes.

FOAM MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Fogg says it has responded to requests for solutions to combat concerns in the dairy industry of foaming, possible flavor change, splashing and spillage, and extended shelf life with several options. The company offers a foam management system that is mobile and can be used on multiple fillers in one plant. The automated clean-in-place (CIP) trough makes flavor change and CIP quick and easy with the touch of a button. This process eliminates the need for CIP rings and increases sanitation for extended shelf life.

ASEPTIC FILLING SYSTEM

Designed for the dairy industry, the GEA Whitebloc aseptic filling system is an ideal solution for bottling extended-shelf-life and pasteurized products in HDPE and PET containers using a variety of closures. A hydrogen peroxide-based sterilization technology is used to meet the special requirements associated with sensitive beverages, GEA says. There is no need to rinse with water after sterilization, saving resources. Automatic bottle changeover provides production flexibility. Compact and easy to use, the GEA Whitebloc requires minimal maintenance since there are no moving parts or valves on the two treatment carousels.

AUTOMATIC FILLING AND PACKAGING

HART Design & Manufacturing says it offers equipment optimized for customers getting started in the market: The HCC-25 (cream cheese) and HPC-25 (process cheese) models produce filled, sealed packages (pouches in cartons) at rates up to 25 packages per minute. A modern system with touchscreen controls, the HCC/HPC-25 automatically produces pouches from roll stock, and precisely fills, seals, and discharges packages. Designed to CE/USDA standards, the sanitary equipment features an easy “plug-and-play” setup with minimal maintenance.

FLEXIBLE POUCH FILLER

With four different models processing at different speeds, all handling a wide range of pouch sizes, Ermetika from IMA Dairy & Food is a highly flexible solution with a reduced footprint. The machine adapts easily to handle film, spouts, and caps from different suppliers, and uses the “filling through the spout” technique (spouts are sealed to the pouch before filling) to ensure 100% pouch filling is achieved, generating significant savings on materials. Fitted with a patent-pending leaking test system, Ermetika is able to check the resistance of the pouch seal. Extended shelf life and aseptic versions are available, the company says.
