Westby Cooperative Creamery silo to get makeover as 50,000-pound cottage cheese container
The creamery is best known for its World Championship 4% small curd cottage cheese, and an external silo wrap will help emphasize this prestigious recognition.
Westby Cooperative Creamery said it is giving its 6,280-gallon silo on Main Street in Westby, Wis., a facelift by wrapping it to look like a giant cottage cheese container. The change pays homage to the area’s dairy heritage and designation as “The Cottage Cheese Capital of Wisconsin.”
“With 13 to 14 million pounds of cottage cheese leaving this facility on a yearly basis, we thought it would be fitting to create a visual representation of this work and the work of our 175 farmer-owners,” said Pete Kondrup, the creamery’s general manager.
