Minneapolis-based Crystal Farms Dairy Co. said it is meeting consumer demands for alternatives to carbohydrate-heavy sandwiches and wraps by launching new Crystal Farms Cheese Wraps. Now available at retailers nationwide, including Walmart, Aldi and Kroger stores, the products offer a healthy, gluten-free and low-carb alternative.

“Crystal Farms Cheese Wraps are innovative first-to-market products formulated to fit modern eating habits,” said Katie Egan, director of marketing, Crystal Farms. “With more than 50% of Americans limiting or completely avoiding carbs, our Cheese Wraps serve as a perfect substitute when you’re taking a break from bread and are specially cut to wrap and roll without breaking.”

The innovation comes from a simple but effective formula: a single slice of 100% cheese sturdy enough to hold ingredients and ready to eat right out the package. Perfect for low-carb sandwich wraps and other culinary applications, Crystal Farms said the Cheese Wraps are available in two varieties — marble jack and mozzarella — and provide 7-8 grams of protein per serving.

According to the NPD Group, dieting habits, along with convenience and portability, are fueling sales as consumers are on the search for healthier alternatives. Nearly one-third of adults are actively avoiding gluten.

“Crystal Farms Cheese Wraps offer an on-trend bread replacement that aligns with modern diets including ketogenic, Atkins, gluten-free and low-carb,” said Egan. “This will drive shoppers to the cheese category as they search for healthier alternatives or [are] just looking for a new way to enjoy cheese.”

Crystal Farms said the Cheese Wraps have a suggested retail price of $4.99 per six-count package.
