The International Dairy-Deli-Baker Association (IDDBA), Madison, Wis., said its “What’s in Store 2019” publication is now available. The association searched though many articles and interviewed varied industry professionals to gather the most influential trends thus far. A few examples from “What’s in Store 2019” include:

The in-store experience goes beyond traditional grocery shopping — e.g., sampling, education, mobile/smartphone integration, individualization and more.

Omnichannel: e-commerce is the new retail.

The “better-for-you” movement continues to grow, with functional ingredients sought for healing or better living, as well as labels that inform of benefits and history. We’re in the age of conscious consumers.

Robots are everywhere, from providing inventory of shelves to making cake ordering a piece of cake.

“What’s in Store 2019” explores hundreds of findings in the latest edition of annual trends, IDDBA said. Figures may be downloaded for presentation at “What’s in Store Online,” holding more than 150 downloadable graphs and tables.

IDDBA members receive a free copy of “What’s in Store 2019” as part of their membership. Additional copies may be purchased; the price per copy is $99 for members and $399 for nonmembers.
