Borden Cheese, licensed by Dairy Farmers of America, Kansas City, Kan., launched thick-cut cheese shreds. The shreds come in four cheese Mexican, sharp cheddar, mozzarella and mild cheddar varieties. The company said the shredded cheese is “smooth-melting,” and each individual shred is five times larger than a regular-cut shred. Mild cheddar contains 110 calories, 9 grams of fat and 7 grams of protein per ¼-cup serving. The cheese can be found at major grocery stores and independent retailers nationwide. The shreds are sold in 8-ounce bags and retail price will vary, depending on the market.
