Lactalis Goes to Rigid Package for President FetaLactalis USA recently converted the packaging for its 8 oz chunks of President brand Feta cheese from shrink film to a resealable rigid square polypropylene package.
Lactalis says its marketing and research departments conducted qualitative research and evaluated several new packaging possibilities, based on consumer needs and current usage habits and behavior patterns.
Lactalis focused on the customer’s perception of Feta packaging on the market, comparing the existing shrink film to the proposed rigid packaging. Research discussion points included consumer expectations and an exploration of improvement touch points.
Unanimously, consumers agreed the transparent rigid pack provided the convenience they were seeking because of its versatility and ability to stand up on shelves, snap shut and preserve the Feta at its optimal freshness point. Featuring an easy-to-open, re-closeable package, the President transparent pack is offered at no additional cost to the retailer or consumer. To maintain consistency, the price, labeling, UPC and UCC remain the same.
“Our goal with the packaging was to give consumers exactly what they were looking for-high-quality and convenience, and of course a see-through, freshness saving rigid package that can stack easily in their refrigerator. Once that was accomplished, we wanted to transition to the new pack smoothly for the benefit of retailers across the United States,” states Marjolaine Besnard, product mgr. for Lactalis USA.
