COLOGNE, Germany-Next month the international food technology sector will be meeting in Cologne for Anuga FoodTec, the international trade fair for food and drink equipment technology.

Scheduled for April 4-7 the Fourth Anuga FoodTec will feature more than 1,100 suppliers from 40 countries. The fair will be held at the newly expanded Cologne Exhibit Center.

Cross-over concept

Thanks to its process-orientated concept, which covers the whole range of raw materials, Anuga FoodTec is unique in its focus on all aspects of processing, packaging, hygiene, storage and distribution in food production. The fair's organizers say it uses a cross-sector approach to appeal to all segments of the food business, while bringing together an internationally relevant product range.

Unlike sector-specific food technology trade fairs, Anuga FoodTec is cross-category (encompassing all raw materials), cross-technology (including all processes) and cross-culture (global scope).

Key players

Anuga FoodTec will be a truly international show, featuring participations from France, Turkey, the United States, Taiwan and - for the first time - China. About 56% of the exhibiting companies in 2006 will be from abroad. At the same time, Anuga FoodTec's exhibitors will be even more international, with an 8% increase in the number of foreign exhibitors. The Anuga FoodTec exhibitors, including all of the internationally leading companies, will present solutions to complex production processes, but also to challenges related to specialized processes and applications. The top companies that will be exhibiting in Cologne include:

Tetra Pak International SA, Sidel Group, SIG Combibloc GmbH, Elopak Group Headquaters, GEA Group, Alpma GmbH, Krones AG, KHS AG, CFS B.V., APV Ltd., IWKA Packaging GmbH, Robert Bosch GmbH, Siemens AG, Rossi & Catelli S.p.A., Carnitech A/S, Stork Food & Dairy Systems B.V., Albert Handtmann Maschinenfabrik, Maschinenfabrik Seydelmann KG, Treif Maschinenbau GmbH, Gram Equipment A/S, and Sympak Process Engineering GmbH.

Expanded format

Anuga FoodTec will also be occupying even more exhibition space than the last show in 2003. The exhibition area has been expanded from 300,000 to 320,000 sq ft. Anuga FoodTec will use three of the new Northern Halls as well as the new northern entrance area, which will house a press center, a conference center and the Koelnmesse VIP area. The new, single-story halls ensure much more efficient logistics and are equipped with telecommunication and media technology throughout. Anuga FoodTec 2006 will occupy Halls 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 (in part) and 10 at the Cologne exhibition center. The product range will be arranged according to the following main product areas:
  • Process technology Halls 4.1, 5.1, 9, 10.1
  • Packaging technology (including filling technology) Halls 6 and 7
  • Food safety; quality management; Hall 5.1 biotechnology; environmental technology
  • Automation; information technology; Hall 7 EDP; services
