The voluntary, industry-led commitment brings together U.S. ice cream makers working to eliminate certified artificial colors from ice cream products made with real milk and sold at retail by the end of 2027.

Guests will enjoy a broad assortment of classic and creative ice cream favorites, from rich traditional flavors to sandwiches and floats.

Over four decades, the event has grown into a tradition where chiefs of staff chill with interns, Blue Dogs scoop with Freedom Caucus members, and policy wonks debate toppings — not politics.

DFA staff and leaders from U.S. ice cream makers served more than 950 gallons of ice cream, 1,200 ice cream novelties, and 32 ice cream cakes during the event, which was held in Union Square Park in front of the U.S. Capitol Building.

The annual ice cream party dished out more than 1,500 gallons of ice cream and thousands of root beer floats.
