The Consortium for Common Food Names (CCFN), U.S. Dairy Export Council, National Milk Producers Federation, North American Meat Institute, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture and American Farm Bureau Federation said they commend the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a new examination guide published on May 15 that will help ensure generic terms are given adequate consideration and protection.
The partners, including cheesemaker Pineland Farms Dairy and dairy cooperative DFA, will distribute thousands of pounds of cheese to food pantries, shelters and more.

Good Shepherd Food Bank, Pineland Farms Dairy Company Inc., Libra Foundation and Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) will distribute thousands of pounds of cheese to food-insecure Mainers through Maine’s emergency food distribution network, Bangor, Maine-based Pineland Farms Dairy said.
The donation will be distributed to hungry adults and children in 46 counties across Tennessee, as well as to front-line health care workers in Nashville.
