3-A Sanitary Standards Inc. (3-A SSI), McLean, Va., announced the five-year revision project for revision of ANSI/3-A 00-01-2018, 3-A Sanitary Standard for General Requirements. This 3-A Sanitary Standard defines the general requirements for sanitary (hygienic) equipment intended for processing milk, milk products, foods, food ingredients, beverages or other edible materials. This standard serves as the baseline standard and normative reference for over 30 individual equipment standards and accepted practices. The project was referred to 3-A Working Group 14 (General Requirements) by approval of the 3-A SSI Steering Committee.

Following final drafting by the Working Group and recommendation of the 3-A SSI Steering Committee, the proposed draft will be available for consideration in accordance with Operating Procedures for the Development of American National Standards by 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc. These are the procedures observed by 3-A SSI for candidate American National Standards.  The announcement of applications to participate in the ANSI Consensus Body for this activity will be made at a later date, 3-A SSI said.  

3-A SSI said it is inviting all interested persons who are directly and materially affected by 3-A Sanitary Standards and Accepted Practices to participate in the 3-A SSI Working Groups. Participation is open to all interested public individuals without condition of membership in any organization.
