FMC Health and Nutrition significantly strengthened its natural colors offering with the 2012 acquisition of Phytone Ltd.’s unique color technology and its 2011 acquisition of Chilean-based South Pole Biogroup. The FDA’s 2013 approval of Spirulina for natural blue in gummies and candies means the company is able to offer a full range of natural colors. Recognizing that natural colors pose challenges when taking into account the impact of variations in light, heat and pH levels, the company applies its knowledge of suspension, texture and texture impact as well as its entire product range to achieve custom formulations that deliver results for dairy customers.
