    Oakhurst Dairy kicks off annual egg nog holiday fundraising effort

    Oakhurst Buttered Rum NogOakhurst Dairy has released its seasonal beverages for the holiday season, including its new Buttered Rum Egg Nog (see our related article here.) The arrival of Oakhurst’s seasonal beverages also marks the beginning of the company’s annual holiday fundraising tradition of donating five cents ($.05) to The Salvation Army for every container of egg nog sold.

    This year represents the 14th consecutive year of this tradition for the company. To date, Oakhurst Dairy has donated more than $220,000 to The Salvation Army through this annual effort, which equates to more than four million containers of egg nog sold.

    “Oakhurst Dairy has been a long time friend and supporter of The Salvation Army, stated Major James LaBossiere, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army. “We are grateful for our partnership and Oakhurst's commitment to assisting us so that we may help others less fortunate.”

    He continued: “We rely greatly on the funds raised through this promotion and, as a result, we are able to offer services and programs for men, women and children in need throughout Northern New England."

    Tastings and Samplings
    For those who want to get a taste of the new Buttered Rum Egg Nog, Oakhurst plans to sample its new product at several Maine and New Hampshire community holiday events including parades, festivals and tree lightings. For sampling event details, check the Oakhurst Facebook page as the holiday season gets underway.

    Bill Bennett, Chairman of the Board, Oakhurst Dairy said, “Last December, we asked our Facebook community which new egg nog flavor they would most like to see us make and the resounding response was the Buttered Rum – more than 40%. So we got to work and are excited to add this new flavor to our seasonal offerings this year."

    He continued: “And, every year we look forward to our annual Egg Nog fundraising campaign to benefit The Salvation Army. By adding new and delicious flavors to our growing line of seasonal beverages, it’s our hope that we will not only bring a little joy to many during this holiday season but also increase our fundraising efforts to support the important work of The Salvation Army.”

    Egg Nog Games
    To reward its Facebook community, Oakhurst will launch a weekly giveaway series called Egg Nog Games during November. Weekly winners will receive a pint variety pack of Oakhurst Egg Nog flavors. To participate, "like" Oakhurst on Facebook to find out more about the season’s Egg Nog Games.
