LiveGreat Foods LLC has developed Acclaim, a new innovative chocolate milk beverage that has all the benefits of chocolate milk plus the additional health benefits of CLA, which include reducing body fat and increasing lean muscle. This is the first fluid milk to hit the U.S. market that incorporates CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) since it was GRAS approved in July 2008 for several GRAS categories including fluid milk, yogurt, meal replacement beverages, nutritional bars, soy beverages and fruit juices. Acclaim is enhanced with Clarinol CLA from Lipid Nutrition, based in Channahon, Ill.

Acclaim will be sold exclusively on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison where CLA was first discovered and is targeted to both young males and females who want to live life in shape and being fit. Acclaim is about smart decision making – it’s one more little thing these consumers can do to add a healthier choice to their diet. The 16-ounce bottle is designed to fit into their hectic and on-the-go lifestyles.

CLA is found naturally in milk, but the amounts found in milk today are not high enough to achieve many of the health benefits of CLA. Acclaim is formulated to contain the optimal level of CLA to provide superior fitness and health benefits; each bottle contains 3 grams of Clarinol CLA.

“Acclaim was developed to provide a tasty and uniquely nutritious chocolate milk beverage to the students at UW that differentiated us from all the rest of the chocolate milks in the marketplace,” says Michael Pariza, co-member of Madison, Wis.-based LiveGreat Foods and founder of CLA. “With the recent GRAS approval for Clarinol® CLA, we wanted to capitalize on the marketable claims around reducing body fat and increasing lean muscle that resonate well with our target consumers.

"Since we are a new venture and have limited resources, Lipid Nutrition provided tremendous support in preparation for our small product launch on the campus of the University of Wisconsin and Clarinol CLA was very easy to work with in this type of dairy application," Pariza says.

About Clarinol CLA
A clinical trial on Clarinol CLA, which was published in April 2007 of theBritish Journal of Nutrition, established that Clarinol CLA reduced fat mass in specific locations on the body, such as the abdomen and thighs. The Clarinol CLA supplemented group demonstrated fat mass reduction already after three months. This further supports the existing body of evidence, which provides a strong basis for a weight management claim on consumer packaging. Clarinol CLA is available in both a liquid and a powder form, which allows more possibilities for a food or dairy company to integrate the weight management benefits of Clarinol CLA into different types of applications.

Additionally, Clarinol CLA won the prestigious award for Best Slimming Ingredient in 2005 in France, which was organized by the international scientific organization Internationals Society for Antioxidant in Nutrition and Health (I.S.A.N.H)
