Johanna Foods Inc., has acquired the refrigerated orange juice and chilled beverage business from Pasco Beverage Company, LLC, of Dade City, Florida. Terms have not been disclosed. Johanna Foods, of Flemington, N.J., did not say whether it would continue to operate Pasco's processing plant in Florida.
CoolBrands Up 63%
CoolBrands International Inc., said last month that its fourth-quarter earnings climbed 63% on sharply higher sales thanks to the acquisition of some Nestle brands this year. But earnings and revenues were below analyst forecasts. The Toronto-based company said it had a net profit of $14.8 million, or 27 cents a share, in the quarter ended Aug. 31, up from $9.1 million, or 17 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier.
Pike's Cheese
Seattle's world famous Pike's Place Market now has one more attraction-cheese. A Seattle-based entrepreneur and a former Bandon Cheese cheesemaker have teamed up to open Beecher's Handmade Cheese,
an artisan cheesemaking business which sells directly
to market customers and
offers demonstrations of the cheesemaking process.
Hooray for Nouriche
The General Mills Bakery and Foodservice division has been awarded the International Foodservice Distributors Assn.'s Diamond Award for the Yoplait Nouriche campaign. The award recognizes superior marketing, merchandising and advertising for new product launches.
