YoCream International, Inc. reported last month that third quarter sales increased 5.5% to $6.64 million from $6.29 million in the third quarter of 2002. For the nine months ended July 31, sales increased 8.8% to $15.5 million from $14.2 million in the same period a year ago.
Nestlé in Poland
Nestlé Polska is closing down its fresh milk-based production in Poland and has sold its dairy plant in Kobylinica by Slupsk, north Poland to the Polish Lacpol corporation. Lacpol, one of Poland's major dairy exporters, has pledged to keep the plant's 170-strong crew on current conditions for at least 18 months.
e-Grocery Drops Off
Publix Super Markets Inc., Lakeland Fla., is ditching its online grocery shopping and delivery service after nearly two years, saying the experiment wasn't going to be profitable anytime soon. PublixDirect simply didn't have enough volume to warrant its continuation the company said.
Wimm-Bill-Dann Down 21%
Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods, the major Russian dairy and juice processor, posted a net profit to U.S. GAAP of $17.7 million in the first half of 2003, down 21% from the same period last year. Pretax profit totaled $143.2 million, up 7.6% on the first half of 2002.
