Anthocyanins are a plant pigment responsible for the red, purple and blue colors of many fruits, vegetables, cereal grains and flowers. It has gained recent attention because of its possible health benefits as a dietary antioxidant.
In South Korea, Pasteur Dairy launched Pasteur Mother's Milk. The product name, Mother's Milk, is a bit deceiving, as it is actually a special milk drink aimed at students preparing for exams. It is said to provide nutrition to improve one's studying ability.
Also in South Korea is Maeil Dairy's new Organic Children's Cheese, which is made from organic natural cheese and organic mixed skim milk powder. Among other nutrients, the cheese is fortified with iron, calcium, DHA, inositol and various nucleotides. It is said to be good for the brain, bones, teeth and the immunity of children.
Unilever in Brazil recently released Becel Olive Oil Spread. The spread is enriched with the company's proprietary Folic B, which is made from folic acid and vitamins B6 and B12, omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, and vitamins A, D and E. The polyunsaturated product is said to be trans fat free and helps maintain a healthy heart and circulatory system.
In Japan, Ezaki Glico introduced Glico Calorie Control Green Tea Ice Cream, a patent-pending ice cream targeted at those who want to keep their calorie intake low. The product contains 80 calories, dietary fiber, red beans and tofu.
