Retail sales of plant-based milk alternatives have reached $3.1 billion dollars in the United States and $20.9 billion worldwide. Yet, there’s no disputing the power of nutrients found in real dairy milk. In fact, real dairy milk contains nine essential nutrients, including 8 grams of protein; while almond milk, the most popular milk alternative, contains only 1 gram.
When we last reported on sales within the U.S. refrigerated retail milk category back in our February issue, the situation was quite rosy. Dollar sales had risen significantly during the 52-week reporting period, and unit sales growth was solid, too.
The line’s addition includes Simply Almond Unsweetened Vanilla beverage.

Simply, a brand of Atlanta-based The Coca Cola Co., said it is bringing its reputation of simple and delicious flavors to the dairy alternatives space with a new variety of almond “milk.”
Danone North America, based in Broomfield, Colo., and White Plains, N.Y., said it unveiled its latest plant-based product innovation — Silk Kids “almondmilk” yogurt alternative.
The offerings include Pumpkin Spice “almondmilk” and fall-flavored yogurts.
