On July 28, U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-Minn.) — a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee — introduced legislation to create a loan program to provide relief to dairy processors who have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting economic crisis, said the Washington, D.C.-based International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA).

The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA), Madison, Wis., is calling for nominations of individuals to be considered for formal recognition in 2021 for their outstanding contributions to the dairy processing industry.

The Award of Merit was established in 1991 to recognize individuals who have made a significant difference in the processed dairy products industry.
