The NCI Laureate Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and growth of the cheese industry. A panel of industry professionals chooses a winner each year based on the person's long-term contributions to the industry.

Speaking during the launch Harsha Moily - Founder and CEO, MYA said, "The fundamental reason for MYA's existence is to create wealth for the rural farmer. The launch of MILK ROUTE goes a long way towards achieving that objective. MILK ROUTE will not only focus on providing the most nutritious milk to the consumer, but will also help in ensuring that the dairy farmer gets a higher share of the end consumer price, as we reach out to urban consumers through our sales & distribution network."

Brian Perry received the Soaring Eagle award, which recognizes his service to the dairy industry, the IDFA and the International Ice Cream Association.

The dairy industry stands on the verge of a new era filled with enormous opportunity and unlimited potential, said IDFA president Connie Tipton. Saying that future success hinges on all stakeholders taking steps together, Tipton called for industry collaboration on renewed efforts to phase out federal milk pricing regulations and new legislation that would change the federal standards of identity for dairy products. 

Chinese and U.S. regulators approved a dairy certificate ensuring that the flow of U.S. dairy goods into the largest dairy importer in the world continues unabated. 

Dairy Farmers of America has reached a settlement agreement in the class action lawsuit  in the southeastern United States.

Errico Auricchio will be honored as a Life Member of the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association April 18 and two men, Bernard Alberts and Richard Leitner, will earn WCMA Distinguished Service Awards for their exemplary careers.

The Dairy Queen system, Minneapolis, named Prairie Farms Dairy Supply, St. Louis, its Distributor of the Year. Dairy Queen cited Prairie Farms’ “superior performance of on-time delivery, and warehouse and pricing accuracy.”

The $5 million Innovation Center houses several test kitchens and a sensory center, which will allow product developers to utilize advanced technologies as they research food and beverage ingredients and products. The 17,900 square foot complex is currently staffed with 40 employees. The center will greatly expand the potential number of products Bolthouse Farms brings to market on an annual basis and enable the introduction of completely new product categories.

Milk supplies are heaviest in the Northeast, but more manageable compared to the holiday period. Processing plants in the rest of the country are working on reduced schedules as year-end milk supplies are worked through and other fluid handlers and smaller processors have resumed normal intakes.
