Ashley Stockwell to present milk to winning Indy 500 driver

Ashley Stockwell, third-generation dairy farmer from Hudson, Ind., has been selected to present milk to the winning driver at the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500.
Stockwell (pictured) applied for the honor and was selected among a pool of applicants by American Dairy Association Indiana Inc. Applicants must be located in Indiana, where the race takes place. "It means a lot to me to represent female farmers. It is really humbling," Stockwell said during a news conference. "I have always known about the race but didn't know Indiana dairy farmers presented the milk until about 10 years ago."
Stockwell of Stockwell Farms revealed the milk will be processed the night before the race and fat-free, 2%, whole milk and lactose-free will be available to whomever the winning driver is. "I am not sure what I will say to the winning driver. There will be so much adrenaline and excitement," she said.
The tradition of the winning driver being awarded with milk dates back all the way to 1936. Stockwell noted the milk will be placed in a cooler and kept securely. She expects racing fans will want to take pictures with the milk and even ask for her autograph.
"It is amazing how crazy they go for the milk," Stockwell stated. She knows, as last year, Stockwell served as the Rookie Milk Presenter who gives milk to the winning team owner and chief mechanic of the Indianapolis 500. This year, she is the Veteran Presenter.
Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing won the Indy 500 last year.
