Vermont Creamery established the Bob Reese Scholarship for Aspiring Cheese Professionals, a tribute to the Creamery’s co-founder, Bob Reese. This scholarship is designed to empower enthusiastic individuals with aspirations to join the cheese industry and enrich the vibrant tapestry of artisanal cheesemaking. 

“The Bob Reese Scholarship embodies our commitment to nurturing the next generation of cheese artisans,” said Harrison Kahn, general manager of Vermont Creamery. "It honors Bob's legacy by providing aspiring professionals with opportunities for growth, education, and networking." 

The scholarship includes sponsorship of the recipient's registration, travel, and accommodation expenses to attend the 2024 American Cheese Society Annual Conference in Buffalo, N.Y., from July 10-13, 2024.

Requirements and How to Apply:  

1.Eligibility: The scholarship is open to individuals who harbor a deep passion for cheese and the cheese industry and are eager to contribute meaningfully to the artisan cheese landscape. Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and at least 18 years old at the time of application. 

2. Application Deadline: The application window for the Bob Reese Scholarship will close on April 29, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered. 

3. Application Process: Interested individuals can apply by completing the online application form, available on Vermont Creamery's website starting April 3, and promoted through the company's email newsletter and social media platforms. The application will feature short-answer questions designed to gauge the applicant's passion for cheese and their vision for the industry's future. 

4. Selection Process: A panel of representatives from Vermont Creamery will review all submitted applications. The winner will be chosen based on the strength of their responses, their potential to effect positive change in the artisan cheese community, and their dedication to continuous learning and development. 

5. Notification: The recipient of the Bob Reese Scholarship will be announced on May 6, 2024, amid American Cheese Month. They will receive comprehensive details regarding conference logistics and arrangements for their trip and accommodation.
