Southeast Milk Inc., a full-service dairy cooperative operating across six states in the Southeastern U.S., named Shana Wooten as director of milk marketing.

Wooten brings more than 20 years of industry experience to the position, including work in producer payroll services, milk procurement, milk marketing and supply chain. She most recently worked at the dairy supply chain integration software firm, Dairy.com.

“Shana’s experience in milk marketing and supply chain strategy will build a foundational strategy to our core business: marketing our members’ milk,” CEO Shawn Dyal said. “Working within federal orders is complex. Having someone with Shana’s expertise behind the wheel is critical to our success.”

Wooten began her career with Southeast Milk in 1999, as an assistant supervisor in the producer payroll department. She grew within the organization, to producer payroll department supervisor in 2006, milk procurement manager in 2010 and director of milk marketing services in 2016. In 2019, she was named chief operating officer of the cooperative.

“I really value the family atmosphere here,” Wooten said. “This is where I began my career and have grown a lot with SMI. I’m very happy to be back.”

Founded in 1998, the mission of Southeast Milk Inc. is to provide quality products and premium levels of service to customers and members, while continuing to seek efficiency and effectiveness in operations to become the Standard of the Southeast. SMI is a full-service cooperative and presently markets nearly 1.8 billion pounds of milk annually on behalf of its nearly 130 members across 6 states in the southeastern United States.
