    Hygiena’s new easy-to-use gluten test kit

    Hygiena has introduced the newest addition to its vast line of food safety testing products; AllerFlow Gluten is a specific allergen test kit for the detection of gluten residue on surfaces.

    AllerFlow Gluten is a two-part kit featuring a convenient sample collection swab device and lateral flow cassette. Hygiena’s patented environmental sample collection device contains pre-measured extraction buffer that is conveniently mixed with the sample by a simple snap and squeeze activation and then poured in the cassette fill well. Results are ready in 10 minutes with sensitivity to 5 ppm - far below the 20 ppm regulatory limit for gluten-free food labeling. The test eliminates all the manual manipulation required by other allergen surface tests. By making the test easier to use, food processors will benefit from more consistent results at a lower cost per test.

    Rapid allergen surface residue testing, such as with AllerFlow Gluten, enables food processors to assess the efficacy of cleaning protocols and prevent cross-contamination of products. According to the FDA, one in every 133 people in the United States suffers from gluten intolerance (celiac disease). Accordingly, Hygiena has prioritized the release of AllerFlow Gluten to accommodate the demands from food processors for a rapid, convenient, and affordable gluten residue test kit for the verification of gluten residue on production surfaces.

    AllerFlow Gluten complements Hygiena’s portfolio of rapid food safety testing devices and sample collection products. Additional allergen tests will soon be available on the same test platform. Other products from Hygiena include the world’s best-selling ATP monitoring systems and same-day indicator organism tests.
