Sanitary floors and doors for dairy plants

    June 13, 2014

    ATLAS

Vitrified tile is an increasingly popular option for dairy flooring, according to Atlas Minerals & Chemicals Inc.  Atlas has developed a carbon-filled novolac epoxy-based jointing material for optimal chemical resistance. The company’s new vitrified tile grout is the carbon-filled Atlas VTF Novolac Grout C. It consists of broadcasts of carbon filler and carbon fine with the power grouting technique common to vitrified tile installations. It has chemical resistance, particularly at elevated temperatures, and color stability.

    FLOWCRETE

Flowcrete’s heavy-duty cementitious urethane and epoxy flooring systems offer long-term durability. The high chemical, thermal shock (freeze/thaw cycles, extreme temperature changes), impact and abrasion-resistant floors are designed to tolerate high temperatures (up to 250 degrees F) and severe cleaning techniques (steam cleaning, hot water, aggressive detergents and disinfectants). The easy-to-clean and joint-free surface floor coatings provide excellent concrete adhesion, as well as high scratch and wear resistance. The flooring systems offer different anti-slip profiles and can contain Polygiene, an antimicrobial additive that works continually to reduce bacteria on the surface of the floor by up to 99%.

    RITE-HITE

The FasTrax clean room door from Rite-Hite meets USDA, FDA and GMP standards for clean room environments. The door is uniquely designed for fast, easy washdown and total environmental control. Key features include a one-piece radial header made from a solid block of UHMW plastic, which makes for easy cleaning and minimal water collection. The door comes with lightweight, removable side frames for quicker, easier and more thorough washdowns and enhanced bacteria control. The noncorrosive side frames stand off from the wall to minimize surface-to-surface contact, reducing pockets where bacteria can grow.

    ERGONARMOR

The durable, hygienic and chemical-resistant Tufchem tiling systems process flooring and wall finishes from ErgonArmor Corrosion Engineering are designed for demanding food and beverage processing environments. The products are available in a variety of colors and anti-slip textures in rectangular or hexagonal shapes. The epoxy thin-set vibration setting process means less lippage and more impact-resistance.

    MASTER-BILT

Sagging walk-in doors allow cold air to escape resulting in higher energy bills and potential food spoilage. Over time and with frequent usage, any door can get out of square. Master-Bilt designs its doors to be easily realigned. They are equipped with unique, fully adjustable hinge backing plates allowing customers to square the door without removal of the door or frame. Doors can also be adjusted in any direction, not just horizontally.

    SANICRETE

SaniCrete manufactures a heavy-duty polyurethane flooring system designed for food and beverage processing plants. It provides excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, chemical attack and thermal shock. The sanitary, nonslip, odor-free flooring system meets all USDA, FDA and HACCP guidelines. SaniCrete also self-performs all functions of the installation process for its flooring systems.

    SLIPNOT

SlipNot’s stainless steel products for slip resistance are chemical- and corrosion-resistant, and provide a hygienic solution for slippery areas. The products also withstand the extreme heat of cookers or extreme cold of cryogenics. The company manufactures a variety of products such as floor plate, grating, ladder rungs and covers and stair treads. The products require little maintenance and are cleaned by power washing or using a stiff bristle brush.

    SIKA

Sikafloor PurCem flooring systems from Sika perform under the demanding conditions found in food and beverage facilities. The seamless polymer systems withstand thermal shock/cycling, provide superior impact and abrasion resistance, and withstand exposure to sanitizers and organic acids commonly found in these environments. PurCem systems can be tailored to specific performance needs and are easy to install. They are odorless and nontoxic and can be applied over partially cured concrete.
