Oringer Introduces High-protein Caramel for Nutrition, Energy Bars

    October 19, 2010

Oringer introduced a high-protein caramel that provides a 10% protein level without compromising the taste and texture of a traditional caramel. The high-protein caramel is extremely versatile and can be used for layering, binding or as a filling in nutrition and energy bars. It is designed to be easy to work with and applicable to all manufacturing processes.

“This new product allows bar manufacturers to increase protein levels without sacrificing the taste that consumers demand,” said Rod Oringer, national sales manager for Oringer, a division of Concord Foods, Inc., Brockton, Mass. “In the past, it was a challenge for manufacturers to find caramels that combine high protein levels with great flavor and texture. We are confident that our high-protein caramel will meet all requirements.”

Oringer partnered with Fonterra Ingredients to develop and market this exciting product. “We are excited to expand our revolutionary PowerProtein line of ingredients into the nutrition and energy bar market through our collaboration with Oringer,” said Sandra Wagner, category marketing manager, bars and snack foods for Fonterra, headquartered in Rosemont, Ill.

Oringer’s knowledgeable research and development team works with each customer to customize flavor, viscosity and texture. By partnering closely with customers, Oringer ensures that each customer will be able to produce a great tasting bar that meets their specific requirements.
