Brewmaster and beer/food author Garrett Oliver, of the Brooklyn Brewery recently conducted a series of tastings that he calls "The Cheese Wars-Beer vs. Wine With Cheese." Oliver and his friend, sommelier Paul Grieco, have paired cheeses with beers and wines and had guests sample and judge the matches. In many cases they found that the beer paired better with the cheese than the wine did.

A Quebec cheese company has lost 1 ton of Cheddar it sank in a fjord as an experiment, and not even divers have been able to find it. Last year La Fromagerie Boivin lowered the cheese 150 feet into a fjord, north of Quebec City to experiment with pressure, cold and moisture. The company may try it again with a tracking device.
