    Flexicon Corporation

A new Half Frame Bulk Bag Unloader from Flexicon Corporation offers total dust containment at low cost by eliminating upper frame components to lift and/or position the bag, instead relying on the user's forklift or plant hoist to suspend the bag above the unit during operation. The bag-to-hopper interface consists of a Spout-Lock® clamp ring positioned atop a pneumatically actuated Tele-Tube® telescoping tube, allowing dust-tight connections and unrestricted flow between the bag spout and hopper, as well as automatic tensioning of the bag as it empties to promote flow and evacuation. The telescoping tube raises the clamp ring assembly that seals the clean side of the bag spout to the clean side of the telescoping tube, and then lowers until the bag spout is pulled taut. Once the spout is untied, the telescoping assembly exerts continual downward tension on the spout, elongating the bag as it empties. The discharger is also equipped with Flow-Flexer® bag activators that raise and lower opposite bottom edges of the bag at timed intervals, loosening compacted materials and promoting material flow into the bag discharge spout. As the bag lightens, the stroke of the bag activators increases, raising the bag into a steep V shape, eliminating dead spots for total evacuation of material with no manual intervention. The transition hopper is equipped with pneumatic flow promotion devices, and an optional Flexible Screw Conveyor capable of elevating free- and non-free-flowing bulk materials including products that pack, cake, plug, seize, smear or fluidize, and blends that separate.

Southampton, Pa.-based AdvantaPure announces FlexiPrene™ pharmaceutical grade TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), a versatile material for extrusion and molding. Typical tubing and molded component applications include biotransfer, air sampling, sub-zero temperature uses, welding to media bags, and peristaltic pumps. According to the company, FlexiPrene provides improved performance over PVC, is cleaner than latex, and is less costly than silicone, fluoropolymer, and polyurethane. Injection moldable FlexiPrene allows for leak-free connections and the elimination of entrapment issues in manifolds and assemblies. Custom options include specified lengths, sizes, private branding, and/or special packaging. Co-extrusion is also available.

    NewAge® Industries, Inc.

NewAge® Industries offers Hot Bond® thermally bonded tubing and hose in four styles: Permanent bond, strippable, electric hot bond, and skip bond. Hot Bond is the joining of thermoplastic tubing or hose into a neat ribbon by the use of a proprietary heat process. It uses no solvents or glues, resulting in an attractive, finished product. Permanently bonded tubing and hose will not separate without cutting tools. Strippable bond permits the separation of individual tubes from the ribbon for fitting attachment or installation purposes. Electric Hot Bond tubing or hose is bonded to electrical wire or light-duty cable. Skip bond works well in applications where push-to-connect or other O.D. style fittings will be used, as it leaves a smooth, clean surface for fitting attachment. Typical tubing materials include nylon and hard durometer polyurethane.

    Omron Electronics LLC

The new Omron S8VM power supply features an undervoltage alarm that signals when voltage falls and indicates the cause, enabling operators to quickly troubleshoot the cause of the drop onsite. The unit uses combinations of LEDs to indicate whether voltage loss is due to a momentary power interruption, an overload, or a drop as the power supply itself loses voltage due to aging. The S8VM is dramatically more compact (40% smaller) than earlier Omron power supply models, and is currently available in ratings from 15W to 150W and voltage capacities from 5V to 24V, making it suitable for installation in a variety of original equipment with varying power requirements. Size reduction does not restrict use in high-temperature environments, and the S8VM can operate at 100% load rate even at temperatures of 50°C. Future models rated from 300W to 1500W will be released in 2006.
