The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association's 2004 World Championship Cheese Contest, was held last month in Madison, Wis.

The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association's 2004 World Championship Cheese Contest, was held last month in Madison, Wis.

The grand champion "Best Cheese in the World" was awarded to the Old Gouda from Frico Cheese, Netherlands. The first runner up is an Emmentaler Switzerland, made by Anton Wyss Kaserei Mutten, Switzerland, and the second runner up is a Vlaskaas, from Pieter Ter Beek at Cono Cheesemakers, Netherlands.

Many of the top placing cheeses will be auctioned off at the International Cheese Technology Exposition, scheduled for April 20-22 in Madison.
