As the new year begins, many are using glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) for weight loss. While effective, these medications can cause nutritional deficiencies, making dairy a vital source of protein and nutrients.

Dairy Foods and the American Dairy Products Institute (ADPI) honored Littlefield, Texas-based Select Custom Solutions Southwest with the 2025 Breakthrough Award for Ingredient Innovation for its ImmuniGen supplement. 

The Jel Sert Company, in partnership with Jamba, unveiled a new line of single-serve powdered stick packs: Jamba Singles to Go! The collaboration brings Jamba into the fast-growing stick pack beverage category, translating the brand's iconic smoothies into a portable, convenient powdered drink format. 

However, while Google searches for 'gut health' have more than doubled in the last three years, the survey found 41% of consumers remain unaware of the gut microbiome, and 50% don't realize it can impact gut health, revealing an opportunity for additional education.

One would think that fibers related to promoting health and wellness, specifically digestive health and immune health, would be growing nicely today. 

It is of course anecdotal, but I have noticed a major shift in consumer trends toward dairy products in the last several months. This is definitely something for the dairy industry to capitalize on.

The Global Burden of Disease Study by the World Health Organization in 2019 identified there were 7.32 billion incidents and 2.86 billion prevalent cases of digestive diseases around the world, resulting in 8 million deaths and 277 million disability-adjusted life years lost.

The need for prebiotics — as well as probiotics and postbiotics — continues to grow in the dairy marketplace.

While it is good to start as early as possible, it is never too late to support gut health and the inner defense system.
