Ice cream for Father's Day
Ice cream retailers scoop some love for dad in this week's FSIs
Forget neck ties, golf shirts and power tools as Father's Day gifts. What Dad really needs is ice cream. That was the theme of dairy-related free-standing inserts for the week beginning June 10.
Baskin Robbins (a unit of Dunkin' Brands) showed an Ice Cream Float Cake under the headline "Ice Cream Cake in His Favorite Flavor" along with the reminder that June 17 is Father's Day.
Meanwhile, Kahala Franchising's Cold Stone Creamery urged readers to "Give your dad the best this Father's Day" and pictured a Cookies & Creamery cake made with devil's food cake, Sweet Cream ice cream with Oreo cookie inclusions and white frosting. The FSI also touted the retailer's new Retro Classics line of floats and sundaes.
In other dairy-related FSI activity this week:
- Kraft showed two new Jell-O pudding flavors (Strawberry Sundae and S'More) and noted "you'll love that they're made with real milk."
- General Mills promoted its Yoplait yogurts in three FSIs. One FSI touted "over 40 delicious flavors" of Yoplait Original; a second stated Trix Yoplait contains "no artificial colors & flavors"; and a third heralded the "Great new taste!" of Greek yogurt.
Dairy processors also promoted their nondairy foods.
- Land O Lakes showed its "fresh buttery taste spread products" and invited readers to enter its ongoing "Baking with Margarine Sweepstakes." Readers submit a recipe online to win a weekly prize (valued at $75) that includes Calphalon pans, cookie sheets, aprons, rolling pin and recipes. The ongoing sweeps ends June 26.
- WhiteWave Foods (a unit of Dean Foods) introduces its new soy-based Silk Fruit & Protein juice in mixed berry, mango peach and strawberry banana flavors.
