Muller Quaker Dairy, a joint venture between PepsiCo Inc. and Theo Muller Group opened a 350,000-square-foot state-of-the-art yogurt manufacturing facility in Batavia, N.Y., on June 3. The company is targeting LEED certification for the facility.
 

Dairy Foods has nominated 13 dairy processors in its 6th annual Plant of the Year program. Voting begins today and will continue to July 4. Your vote will help determine the winner. Each of the nominated plants has been published in Dairy Foods and on dairyfoods.com in the last 18 months. 

 MilkPEP named Sunnyside Farms the winning processor in the Breakfast at Home category and the Borden Company of Florida the winner in the Refuel category. Both companies promoted milk through effective local marketing using MilkPEP’s free resources. 

The retail price for a pound of butter is $2.53, a drop of 51 cents from two weeks ago. Shredded cheese, ice cream, regular and Greek yogurt prices rise.

Shamrock Farms, Phoenix, said in March it is building a $50 million state-of-the-art dairy manufacturing facility in August County, Virginia.

Hiland Dairy Foods Co., Umpqua Dairy Products Co., and Galliker Dairy Co. took the top Quality Chekd honors in dairy excellence, plant performance and marketing, respectively, at the 2013 QCS Leadership Conference last month in New Orleans. 

Dean Foods Company (NYSE: DF) today announced strong first quarter 2013 results. The Company reported first quarter 2013 diluted earnings per share of $2.63, compared to first quarter 2012 earnings per share of $0.20.
