2015 Plant of the Year - Kroger Mountain Foods
Mountain View Foods is 'one of the most technologically advanced dairy facilities' in the USA, writes a Kroger executive
We are honored to have Mountain View Foods be named the Dairy Foods 2015 Plant of the Year. Since opening its doors on May 25, 2014, the facility has been devoted to delivering the highest-quality products to our stores. To be chosen for this award demonstrates how much of a difference Mountain View Foods is making for our customers and our company.
This honor speaks to the commitment and skill of our great people who are running one of the most technologically advanced dairy facilities in the country. Opening Mountain View Foods, our first complete build in more than 30 years, was a monumental task. Without the guidance of Site Leader Art Shank and the tireless dedication of our associates who call Mountain View Foods home, we would not be where we are today.
We have hard-working associates who are committed to safety and quality. Not only did the plant recently celebrate one year of operations, but also one year without an OSHA-recordable accident. We empower our associates closest to the customer to make decisions to continually improve our processes and our products.
Our great people have also made Mountain View Foods a facility of firsts:
- The first dairy in the United States to deploy robotic technology that packs cases and picks and palletizes orders entirely by automation
- The first Kroger dairy to produce aseptic milk products
- The plant achieved SQF Level 3 certification during its start-up year
Kroger manufacturing began more than 90 years ago with our first plant in Cincinnati. And now, Mountain View Foods is one of Kroger’s 37 plants that combine to produce more than 40% of the private label items sold in our stores.
