Lucerne, a dairy brand of grocer Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., introduced Plus Protein Dairy Beverage, which contains 12 grams of protein in an 8-ounce serving (the typical fat-free milk has 9 grams of protein.) The milk contains 8 grams of sugar per serving versus 12 grams in regular fat-free milk.  It’s available in fat-free, 2% reduced-fat and chocolate reduced-fat varieties. It’s sold in half-gallons for a suggested retail price of $3.49.
