Norwood, Mass.-based Advanced Instruments’ Fluorophos® Test System — a rapid, extremely sensitive fluorimetric method for assessing alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in milk and milk products — has received unanimous approval as a full international standard method by the International Dairy Federation (IDF 155), International Standards Organization (ISO 11816) and CEN European Standards Organization.
BSI Management Systems Co., Canada, has
strengthened its position in the global food safety certification market by
being among the first organizations to be independently accredited to
deliver certification against ISO 22000, the new international food safety
standard. BSI’s accreditation has been granted by UKAS (United
Kingdom Accreditation Service), the globally recognized accreditation body.
Victor, N.Y.-based Ecovation Inc. has
signed a contract to build a new wastewater treatment and renewable energy
production plant for O-AT-KA Milk Products Cooperative, Batavia, N.Y. The
design, build, finance and operate agreement allows O-AT-KA to replace its
current outdated system and benefit from a lower-cost, renewable energy
alternative.
Walla Walla, Wash.-based Key Technology Inc. has established a foreign-invested commercial enterprise (FICE) in China
and opened an office in Shanghai to provide sales and services. Key’s
Chinese facility will provide an extensive application testing laboratory,
an engineering group, spare parts, and operator training. The new
operation, Key Technology (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd., is a wholly owned subsidiary of Key Technology Inc.
Flowserve Corp., Irving, Texas,
has announced an agreement with Al Rushaid
Group to build the largest original
equipment manufacturer (OEM) pump repair, manufacturing and training
facility in the Middle East.
The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI), Arlington, Va., has published the new ANSI/PMMI
B155.1-2006 safety standard for packaging and packaging-related converting
machinery. This revised version, approved as an American National Standard,
is harmonized with the international (ISO) and European (EN) standards by
the introduction of hazard identification and risk assessment as the
principal method for analyzing hazards to personnel and achieving

Genstar Capital LLC has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement
to acquire Illinois-based Fort Dearborn
Co. Fort Dearborn management, along with many
of the current shareholders, will participate in the company’s new
ownership.
