Variegate Feeder

Variegate Feeder
Rich caramel, fudge and jam are popular ingredients in ice cream.
With the new Hoyer Addus VF 1000 F variegate feeder from Tetra Pak Hoyer, the
addition of such high-viscosity ingredients is more cost-efficient. The Hoyer
Addus VF 1000 F hopper is suspended on weighing cells and the control system
is similar to the Hoyer Addus FF Fruit Feeder. Production parameters are constantly
displayed and can be stored in the computer memory for next production run of
the same product. The 3-A-approved pump provides a constant, non-pulsating flow,
ensuring a high level of dosing accuracy and uniform product appearance over
time. — Tetra Pak Hoyer Inc., 753 Geneva Parkway, Lake Geneva, Wis., 53147,

Patent-Pending Warning System
Sweco has announced the development of the Sweco
SentryScan, a patent-pending warning system that notifies operators of poor
screen performance by using microwaves to detect most breaks, holes or
tears in a separator’s wire-mesh screens. This early warning enables
processors to avoid the costs associated with reprocessing off-spec
product, contamination of downstream equipment and product recalls. — Sweco, P.O. Box 1509, Florence, Ky.,

Continuous In-Line Monitoring
In-line sensors from Optek-Danulat provide continuous
in-line monitoring of process lines for immediate detection of product
interface, control of centrifugal separators, BOD monitoring, heat
exchanger leak detection product identification and standardization, cow
water reclaim and other applications that save money and recover product.
Rugged and sanitary, these unique and reliable in-line monitors provide
real-time valve and pump control through the plant’s PLC. Data can be
recorded on an internal data logger or directed to an external data logger
or chart recorder through a 4-20 mA output. Optek’s photometric

Bulk Containers
Meese Orbitron Dunne’s heavy-duty Ship Shape
bulk containers safely stack up to three high when filled and covered and
nest empty up to seven high without locking to maximize available space
between the top rack and ceiling. Rotationally molded from durable
polyethylene in a single piece, the rigid Ship Shape containers accommodate up to 1,500 pounds each, permitting taller, more secure stack heights and the use of additional rack levels than are possible with wooden pallets. Available in seven different designs with capacities ranging from 32 to 40 cubic feet with two- or four-way lift access. Ship Shape containers are weatherproof and resist heat and cold, enabling shipping and storage of dry, bulk chemicals and pharmaceuticals, plastic resins, automotive and machinery components, scrap and recyclable materials and other non-regulated products. — Meese Orbitron Dunne Co., 4920 State Road, P.O. Color-Monitor Control System
Kemco’s Monarch 5000 color-monitor control
system will automatically observe temperatures, tank levels, pump
operations, valve positions, stop/start controls and utility consumption
data. From either the main screen or a remote location, the operator can
select and view screens as well as the controls system. Monitoring software
is utilized to convert system data to operational information for the user.
System components operation is indicated on the display screens by colored
status symbols which automatically change, noting the specific operation of
the component. Remote communications can ease trouble shooting by allowing
Kemco or corporate engineers from remote locations to quickly view and
adjust the system operation, thereby minimizing downtime. — Kemco Systems Inc., 11500 47th St. N., Clearwater,

Grease for Food-Grade Applications
With a unique combination of an aluminum complex thickener,
white lubricating solids and other additives, Molykote® White Bearing Grease
reduces friction, prevents metal-to-metal contact and minimizes wear in food-grade
applications, even under high-surface pressures and marginal lubrication conditions.
Because the raw materials have been selected to be used in mechanisms where
incidental contact with foodstuffs or pharmaceutical products are possible,
Molykote White Bearing Grease can be used as lubrication in dairies, beverage,
meat processing and pharmaceutical plants; process machinery; and canneries.
The grease has been reformulated and meets FSA Regulations 21 CFR 178.3570 and
USDA H1 classification and is available in NLGI consistency class 2. Molykote
White Bearing Grease has a service temperature range of 1 to 302 degrees F and
a drop point of 518 degrees F. It can be applied by hand packing, hand-operated
grease guns, automatic greasing equipment and central lubricating systems. When
stored at or below 90 degrees in the original unopened containers, the grease
has a 60-month usable life from the production date. — Dow Corning Corp., Box

Portable CIP
Sani-Matic’s Ultra Flow CIP has found increasing
acceptance as a portable CIP. With the inherent benefit of a return system
as the key element in the unit, Ultra Flow avoids many of the difficulties
encountered in traditional centrifugal pump return setups. The eductor is
insensitive to entrained air in the return solution and keeps water from
pooling at the bottom of the tanks as they are being washed. The unit
operates on a minimum of water and chemicals to make single-use operation
as cost effective as possible. Ultra Flow is a worthwhile consideration for
customers with applications isolated from existing CIP supply and return
piping. — Sani-Matic Inc., 1915 S.

Rollstock Machine
As part of its ongoing drive to give food manufacturers
of all sizes the opportunity to leverage the technology of thermoform
fill-seal packaging, Multivac has introduced the new R140 rollstock system.
It is the smallest rollstock thermoform fill and seal system available and
guarantees the same quality and reliability customers have come to expect
from Multivac. The machine’s competitive price point makes it the
perfect entry-level machine for small processors; larger food companies can
take advantage of the low cost machine to do small product runs without
retooling existing packaging systems or interrupting other production
lines. The R140 can also be expanded to include options such as a cleaning
program, gas-flushing for MAP packaging, and photo electric registration.
