Creativity is a way of life at David Michael, and with more than 70 food scientists, flavor chemists, color engineers, chefs and technicians worldwide, there are a lot of great ideas. The Innovation Roadshow’s Innovation Showcase gives its talented staff the opportunity to explore new concepts, conduct research or work outside of their area of expertise – allowing them to truly focus on innovation and reveal what’s on their own radars. As a result, attendees walk away with new flavor insights, unique product development applications, category transfer ideas, and most importantly, a renewed sense of creativity.

New this year, the Roadshow is offering a series of technical sessions on flavor modifiers. Each 20-minute session, presented by a David Michael flavor chemist, will focus on flavor modifiers that can assist in creating more flavorful, and oftentimes, healthier products.

David Michael’s Trendspotter, Erin O’Donnell, returns to give a behind-the scenes look at the Innovation Showcase and the trends influencing this year’s product innovations. Think a confectionery trend is irrelevant to your snack food line? Think again. This presentation will get you looking beyond the table and into your own lab.

With both brands and private label goods vying for the consumer’s dollar, the approach each segment uses to capture the shopper’s attention is key. In the panel session, Mike Schall, senior vice president, Monterey Gourmet Foods, will lead a lively discussion with branded and private label experts, presenting the strategies each utilize in marketing their products in today’s supermarket environment. Additional strategic insight will be provided by a prominent member of the advertising world. This session also will provide insights relevant to product developers in both technical and marketing entities.
