Garelick Farms, Franklin, Mass., a division of Dean Foods, Dallas, is said to be working with Connecticut-based ad agency Cronin & Co. on a new broadcast campaign, according to Adweek. The campaign is scheduled to launch in January.

Texas Expresso, a new campus dining concept capturing the feel of 1960s Italy and offering a menu of gelato (Italian-style ice cream), coffees and sandwiches, opened its doors on the University of Texas campus in late September. In addition to introducing the university community to a new eatery, Texas Expresso will also showcase the latest in menu technology as the café sports a 50-inch plasma screen TV menu that will feature the restaurant's full menu selection and daily specials.

Danone Group's unit Danone, Asia Pte, Ltd. has signed an agreement to buy a 2% stake in Shanghai-listed Bright Dairy & Food Co, Ltd. one of China's largest dairy products firms. After the stake transfer, the French company will increase its stake in Bright Dairy to nearly 6%. The transaction is pending government approval.

Carvel Ice Cream, Atlanta, and the National Association of Sports and Physical Education (NASPE), has launched a new campaign-Captain Carvel's Healthy Action Heroes-designed to raise awareness among elementary school children regarding nutrition and fitness. The campaign, which kicked off at Yankee Stadium in September, will have a number of initiatives, including helping elementary schools raise money for playground and athletic equipment.

Two people have been arrested over the production of 60 tons of fake and low-quality milk powder in China's northeastern province of Heilongjiang. The arrests come months after at least 13 babies died in a similar scandal in Anhui province, according to Reuters, Beijing.

Getting enough vitamin D, either through the diet or from sunlight, could be important for oral health, based on findings of a recent study funded in part by the Agricultural Research Service. The analytical study looked at a possible connection between vitamin D levels in the blood and periodontal disease, a widespread chronic inflammatory condition marked by a loss of attachment of the thin ligaments that connect teeth with their surrounding bone sockets.
