Glanbia Nutritionals Inc., Monroe, Wis., won two IDFA (International Dairy Foods Association) Achieving Excellence Marketing Awards, coming first overall for best Direct Mail Piece, and first in its category for best Print Ad. The Direct Mail Piece, promoting Provon[r] whey protein isolate, was sent out previous to the 2002 IFT Food Expo. The piece generated great interest and was a key driver in increasing Provon awareness. The Print Ad, featuring Glanbia Nutritionals' signature skeleton, was featured in trade publications in North and South America with the tagline "If you think all calcium is the same we've got a bone to pick with you." Minneapolis-based Taiyo International, the North American subsidiary of Japan-based Taiyo Kagaku, a leading manufacturer of functional ingredients for the food, pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industries, received Kosher certification from the Organized Kashrus (OK) Laboratories for SunActive Fe[tm], Taiyo's patented iron delivery system. OK Certification not only ensures foods are sourced according to Jewish dietary laws but scrutinizes processes by which products are made. Seen on food labels worldwide, OK certification is regarded by many as an indication of quality. SunActive Fe disperses insoluble iron (ferric pyrophosphate) in liquid formulations without precipitation, iron flavor or change in color. It is stable against heat, salt, pH and oxidation. Mild on the gastrointestinal system, SunActive Fe provides non-irritating iron fortification with superior absorption properties and bioavailability. For more information visit www.taiyokagaku.com.

Where do food and beverage manufacturers turn when they don't have the resources or technology to implement new product ideas? Where do they go for advice about productivity issues, such as capital management or maintenance and reliability? Traditionally, food and beverage manufacturers relied on suppliers, equipment manufacturers and consultants. Today, they have a new partner option: DuPont Food Industry Solutions (DFIS), Wilmington, Del. DFIS uses the vast resources at DuPont to assess companies' most complex issues, offer solutions and guide them confidentially through the implementation process. It combines the expertise of more than 1,000 DuPont technical specialists with the experience of more than two centuries of

scientific advances to create new product and process possibilities never before

seen in the food industry. To learn more about DFIS's capabilities, e-mail DFIS@gbr.dupont.com.
