    Oakhurst Dairy names co-presidents

    March 16, 2012

    Oakhurst Dairy said that John H. Bennett and Thomas A. Brigham will be named co-presidents of the company following a meeting of the board of directors in April. As originally planned, President and CEO William P. Bennett plans to transition from day-to-day operations but will maintain an active role in the company’s management as Chairman of the Board.

    Dry Whey prices received for bag, tote, and tanker sales meeting USDA Extra Grade standards averaged 61.9 cents per pound, an increase of 1.3 cents.

    From 2,500 entries, a Gouda-style cheese is named a champion

    A Dutch Gouda-style cheese is the 2012 World Championship Cheese. The semisoft, reduced-fat cheese, called Vermeer, from FrieslandCampina in Steenderen, Netherlands, took top honors out of 2,504 entries from 24 countries.

    Philip R’s Frozen Desserts made headlines in 2010 with its award-winning Lollibons (picture an ice cream lollipop or a cake pop on a stick). The Swiss vanilla almond Lollibon was selected as a silver finalist for Outstanding Perishable Foodservice Product in the 2010 sofi Awards from the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade. In 2011, the novelty received a top award from the World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product contest in the creative and innovative class.

    USDA whey, butter prices decreased in latest week

    Butter prices received for 25 kilogram and 68 pound boxes meeting United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Grade AA standards averaged $1.42 per pound for the week ending Feb. 25, 2012. The U.S. price per pound decreased 2.2 cents from the previous week.
